After many years in the roof and guttering business, the team at Paragon Roof and Guttering recommend COLORBOND® for efficient guttering for your home. It is long lasting, durable and made for Australian conditions.

Here are some tips for getting the most out of your COLORBOND® guttering –

Keep your gutter area clear

One of the biggest issues with gutters is that they get clogged with leaf litter and other debris. While you may love the trees it is a really practical idea to clear branches away from the area around your guttering.  If you clear trees and branches that are too close to your home you will find your guttering stays much cleaner for much longer.  Also, branches blow about in the wind and they can damage gutters during high winds and storms so keeping the area clear is a really good idea.

Check the downpipes

It is also important to keep the area around the downspout clear of any obstacles. If the downpipe is blocked water cannot flow away properly. Leaves, sticks and any other debris should be removed by hand if possible. Don’t try and clear downpipes with a hose as it may drive debris further down the pipe and cause it to get lodged out of reach and clog the pipe.

Time to upgrade your gutters?

If your roof or gutters are in disrepair it may be time for an upgrade.  It may be worth considering increasing the size of your downpipes for better run off.  An increase of just 10mm can have a significant impact on how efficiently your roof handles water, enabling gutters to deal with a larger volume of water. This means that gutters will be less likely to overflow in severe weather, minimising potential damage to guttering or the ceiling area.
